The destruction of the wind

Grand Rapids wind reports
This mid-size evergreen tree was blown over by the wind but it didn't break - the trunk bent to a 90 degree angle.  Odd!
The wind is powerful.  We've not had a tree come down yet in our yard, but here's some wind damage.  I don't know exactly when this damage happened.  Our winter has been very mild this year (happy!) but in its place there's been some doozy storms.  WoodTV reported a 70 mile an hour wind gust measured at the Ford Airport near my house on February 19, 2016.  Straight line winds I guess.
Koenders Windmill
We have a Superior Windmill for aerating our lake.  The windmill head blew off!

Koenders Windmill parts
now to figure out how to repair it...

we had a storm blow through Indiana on a path to Michigan. What was thought were wind gusts turned out to be a series of weak tornadoes. Tornadoes being common, I've heard a lot of stories. The most amazing to me occurred in this recent storm and occurred in Union Mills Indiana. A tornado picked up 40 calves and laid them down a mile away. Mostly uninjured but in shock. The farm owner was able to take trailers to load them up and bring them back home. Certainly amazing AND tragic events are caused by the Wind.
