Two Locations - Movies in the Park(s)

This sounds fun - movies in the park!  Summertime is so short in Grand Rapids, so if you have an opportunity to GET OUTSIDE, you should DO IT!  Grab the bug spray and head here:            Movies in the Park 2014
Here's the 411:
Join us for FREE family-friendly entertainment on the shores of Reed's Lake. Movies will be shown on an inflatable screen at dusk. Come early for the best seat and bring your lawn chair or
blanket. Snacks will be available for purchase from the KDL Teen Group, with proceeds to EGR Parks & Recreation and Teen Library Programs. Movies in the Park are sponsored by KDL Library and EGR Parks & Rec. Dept. 

The 2015 Summer Movie schedule:
June 19
July 17
August 21
September 18
Rain Date:  August 28

In case of inclement weather (including threat of rain, rain, or high winds) the movie will be canceled and rescheduled if circumstances allow. 

Alcohol, barbecues, grilling, and open fires are not allowed in John Collins Park. All dogs must be on a leash no more than six feet in length.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids’ Movies in the Park has announced the titles of movies it will show on six Friday nights this summer.
Downtown Grand Rapids, Inc., Friends of Grand Rapids Parks and Franklin Partners, which organize the free movie series together, released the lineup on Thursday:
  • June 5: “E.T.”
  • June 19: “Dazed and Confused”
  • July 10: “Dirty Dancing”
  • July 24: “Hook”
  • Aug. 7: “The Matrix”
  • Aug. 21 double feature: “The Lost Boys” and a to-be-determined movie that will be chosen by voters.
The free movies will be shown on a 50-foot screen at Ah-Nab-Awen Park starting at dusk.
Pre-movie entertainment starts at 7 p.m. Movie-goers should bring their own blanket, chairs, beer, wine and snacks, though there will be food vendors at the park. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
Event organizers say that the 2014 Movies in the Park series brought 19,000 people and $440,000 to downtown Grand Rapids.
